A maison de passe in a disreputable quarter of fin de siecle Alexandria, where men meet for illicit sexual encounters. We follow one of Cavafy's archetypal youths, part defiant god, part troubled human being. He ages before our eyes, eventually coming to terms with, and feeling able to celebrate, his sexuality, just as his mortality catches up with him.
